Honda LAMS Approved

Starting your motorcycle journey is one of the best parts of riding. LAMS-approved bikes are built specifically for learner and provisional riders — the right balance of performance, control and confidence while you build experience on the road. We stock a genuine range of LAMS motorcycles from Honda and Royal Enfield: two brands known for reliability, quality engineering and rider-friendly design. Whether it’s your very first bike or something with more style and character, we’ll help you find the one that fits how you want to ride.

Some overseas models and colour-ways may not be available at time of ordering. LAMS eligibility varies by state and territory — contact us to confirm a model for your licence.

What is LAMS?

Learner approved, not learner boring

The Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme exists to help new riders build confidence on bikes with manageable, predictable performance. It doesn’t mean dull — today’s LAMS range covers naked bikes, sports bikes, cruisers, adventure bikes and retro roadsters. A bike qualifies on three simple things.

≤ 660cc

Engine capacity

In most states a LAMS bike has an engine capacity of 660cc or less — enough for real riding, kept in a manageable range while you learn.

≤ 150kW / tonne

Power-to-weight

The power-to-weight ratio can’t exceed 150 kilowatts per tonne, so the bike stays predictable and progressive — never overwhelming.

On theapproved list

State approved

The exact model must appear on your state or territory’s official approved list. We only badge a bike LAMS once we’ve confirmed it qualifies.

Always check the official approved list for your state or territory before buying — or just ask us, we confirm it for every bike we sell.

Grow with it

A bike for now — and the next few years

LAMS isn’t a compromise you’ll want out of quickly. Start on a proper motorcycle, build real experience, and step up only when you’re genuinely ready.

  1. 01

    Get your Ls

Pass your pre-learner course and you’re ready for a LAMS bike. We’ll match you to something that fits your height, budget and confidence.

  2. 02

    Build real experience

Commute, do weekend rides, get comfortable in traffic. A predictable, reliable bike is what turns a nervous learner into a confident rider.

  3. 03

    Move to your Ps

Still on a LAMS bike, but now stretching further — longer rides, bigger roads. Many riders never feel the need to rush past this stage.

  4. 04

    Step up when ready

A full licence unlocks the whole range. Because you started with Honda or Royal Enfield, stepping up — and trading in — is straightforward.
